Five reasons why you should learn Tourism and Travel Management at LHU

Dong Nai -  the “green lungs” of the Southeast region

Dong Nai possesses the strength of ecotourism, expressed by its natural and biological diversity. It highlights a river system, streams, and waterfalls with a density of more than 60 areas, tourist destinations such as Cu Lao Pho, Cu lao Ba Xe; Mo Springs, Reo Springs; Da Ton Lake tourism area, Nuoc Nong Lake; Mai fall tourism destination, Troi fall; Cat Tien National Park; Phuoc Thai mangroves…

In addition, Dong Nai also has tremendous forest resources. The province now has 150,000 hectares of forest, including many rare species of flora and fauna on the verge of extinction. The natural forest ecosystem controls the Dong Nai River basin, providing fresh water during the dry season and limiting flooding during the rainy season for the entire area of the Southeast region. That is why Dong Nai is called the "green lungs" of this land.

Besides, PhD. Ta Duy Linh, Chief of the Institute for Economic Development and Tourism Research (Ho Chi Minh City), stated that Dong Nai has enough elements to create a meaningful supply chain for community tourism. The people of Dong Nai have a strong spirit of travel.

A massive tourism human resources demand in Dong Nai

The operator of Fruit Farm, Mr. Huynh Dan, is always eager to hire gifted youngsters to work on his property. He said, "It is no matter who you are, where you are from. We are all interested in how you want to approach your assignments. This is because, despite your excellent achievement, we expect you to be self-assured, presentable, and respectful of everyone around you. Even though your skills are not well-performed, it is a chance to enhance this with our availability to support you in establishing the foundation of competency. Suppose you want to grow long-term to become a professional tour guide. In that case, seniors will be willing to lead you from a non-disciplinary learner whether you study marketing, law, or any discipline but have a passion for tourism; with what the farm is working on, they are responsible for enthusiastically supporting to take you from zero to hero through experience steps, and then you will be able to practice."

Travel enthusiasts are welcome to apply to Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Department Manager of Business of the Thai Loan Travel Company. "The company came to Lac Hong University to create opportunities for students to work at the company in several positions, such as instructor, office staff, businessman, etc.," said Mr. Nguyen.

    A practical learning program

LHU's Tourism and Travel Management major is structured to give students access to practical knowledge from their first year onwards, with the following goals aside from their final semester entrepreneurial internships:

The first-year students will take an entry tour of 2 to 5 days of itineraries and destinations in Dong Nai province or Phan Thiet

The second-year students will participate in Field trip for specialization 1, during which they will spend 4 to 10 days conducting practical studies in the Southwest provinces.

The third-year students will be able to join Field trip for specialization 2, where they will conduct practical studies for 7 to 15 days in the Central or all regions of Vietnam.

Twelve tourism enterprises have already signed a

    partnership agreement

    • The major of Tourism and Travel Management has signed a partnership agreement with 12 enterprises in Dong Nai and neighboring areas to provide human resources in tourism and facilitate students' internships, practical learning, or feedback to the industry's training program so that graduates meet the real needs of today's tourism business.

Lecturers in the major studying tourism development in
    • Long Khanh
    • PhD. Nguyen Van Tan, Dean of the Faculty of Administration - International Economics, noted that Long Khanh City has enormous potential to establish a smoke-free sector in the long run, thereby resolving the locals' employment and social security issues. As a result, from 2022 to the present, lectures in this major typically include discussions about ‘Establishing a tourism development project deployed in Long Khanh City’, with the participation of the People’s Committee. This demonstrates that the role of Tourism and Travel Management at Lac Hong University does not only stop at training the human resources for local tourism but also in solving lecturers' and students’ preoccupation with the province’s development, offering jobs for the local people, promoting the country’s socio-economic growth in general and Dong Nai in particular.
