LHU celebrates its 27th anniversary at 405th AUN-QA Programme Assessment opening session

On the morning of September 24, 2024, LHU solemnly held the opening ceremony of the 405th ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) external assessment with the joy of its 27th anniversary celebration (September 24, 1997 - 2024).

With the desire to build a modern learning and teaching environment, increasingly meeting the labor market requirements in the international integration period, LHU continues to coordinate with the AUN-QA to conduct an on-site external assessment for 4 undergraduate programs according to the AUN-QA standards, including Tourism and Travel Services Management (Faculty of Administration and International Economics); Chinese Language (Faculty of Oriental Studies); Food Technology (Faculty of Food Science and Technology) and Automotive Engineering Technology (Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics).

This is the 405th external assessment by the AUN-QA and the 4th time at LHU. The University has so far had 10 training programmes meeting the AUN-QA standards.

In her welcome remarks, Dr. Do Thi Lan Dai shared "Today, exactly 27 years ago the Prime Minister signed the Decision to establish the first private university in Dong Nai province, fulfilling the wish of Mr. Do Huu Tai, the founder of LHU to build a quality university to serve the higher education needs of the local people. During the development journey, we pay special attention to the training quality enhancement. Our University had 2 programs namely Information Engineering Technology and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology successfully assessed in the 142nd AUN-QA Assessment in 2019. Four other programs including Pharmacist, Accounting, English Language and Business Administration were also successfully evaluated in the 219th AUN-QA Assessment in 2021. Four more programs namely Japanese Studies, Construction Engineering Technology, Finance - Banking, Automation and Control Engineering Technology also satisfied the AUN-QA standards at the 320th AUN-QA Assessment in 2023. Additionally, LHU has applied the AUN-QA standards, version 3.0 in the 2018 - 2020 period and version 4.0 in the next period. LHU was also recognized by the AUN-QA standards, version 3.0 by the end of 2023. Applying this standard helps the University not only meet the labor market requirements but also further improve, providing a high-quality learning and teaching environment for students."

On behalf of the AUN-QA assessors, Mr. Prem Anand M. ARJUNAN - Lead Assessor made opening remarks and extended thanks to LHU’s leaders, academic staff, support staff, especially four training programs under this assessment, at the same time awarding the AUN-QA commemorative medal as a word of encouragement for LHU's efforts and achievements in previous assessments. He also committed that the evaluation team will work hard to help LHU point out its strengths and weaknesses for continuous improvement.

As planned, the 405th AUN-QA Programme Assessment will last three days from September 24 to 26, 2024. During this period, the external assessment delegation will research documents, self-assessment reports and proofs,... They will also work with the Faculty Management Board, SAR teams, academic staff, support staff, students, alumni, employers,... and stakeholders of the four programs. In addition, they will visit facilities, services, such as the library, computer rooms, practice rooms, laboratories, ... This assessment will help LHU and the four programs be aware of the strengths and weaknesses to have solutions for quality improvement.
