Opening of online accreditation of ABET standard training programs at LHU

LHU on November 7 held an online opening ceremony to inspect two training programs according to ABET standards, namely Information Engineering Technology and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology. These are also the first two training programs of LHU to be accredited according to ABET standards.

The time of accreditation of the two training programs according to ABET standards takes place from 07/11/2022 – 09/11/2022 online with interview sessions, working with stakeholders (students, lecturers, alumni, businesses), checking documents, visiting facilities.

Attendees of the opening ceremony were ABET's accrediting experts: Prof. Dr. Ghassan Salim - Head of the assessment team; Prof. Dr. Richard Warren – Information Engineering Technology Program Assessor; Prof. Dr. Robert Gray – Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology Program Assessor. LHU representatives were DSc. Lam Thanh Hien - Rector; members in the Rectorate Board along with the heads and deputy heads of training units, offices, departments; lecturers of two units with training programs accredited this time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, DSc. Lam Thanh Hien would like to thank ABET experts for their support over the past three years in the inspection process. The University looks forward to listening to the comments from the evaluation team to improve, enhance the training quality, and find the strengths and weaknesses of the two programs to continue to improve in the future. LHU also hopes that this accreditation of the two training programs according to ABET standards will be a motivation for the University to continue to upgrade and perfect other training programs.

ABET - the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology is a reputable organization that certifies the quality of engineering education programs through its accreditation activities.

ABET's standard is considered the "gold standard" in assessing the quality of engineering technology training and is the international recognition for the quality of the assessed training programs of a university.

Over the years, LHU has invested heavily in education quality accreditation. Up to now, the University has met the quality accreditation standards of the Ministry of Education and Training, and had six training programs meeting AUN-QA Standards. It is expected LHU will have four more training programs assessed by AUN-QA by 2023.
