Reviewing BUILD-IT Project after 2 years of implementation

On September 12, the BUILD - IT Project delegation led by Dr. Kathy Wigal - Director of BUILD - IT Project in US had a working session with LHU. The working session was a part of activities supporting member universities belonging to BUILD IT Project - enhancing undergraduate educational competence, carried out by the government of USA and Arizona State University (ASU). Here, the two sides evaluated the progress and reviewed activities LHU has been doing, then discussing to find out problems to solve in order to gain strategic objectives (especially university autonomy).

The delegation was welcomed by Permanent Vice Rector Lam Thanh Hien, Vice Rector Nguyen Vu Quynh, Manager of International Relations Department Nguyen Thanh Lam, Vice Dean of Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics Le Phuong Truong and Vice Dean of Information Technology Faculty Pham Cong Xuyen.

The University leaders discussed goals to be implemented

The working session was divided into two parts. Part one reviewed KPIs and development objectives of the two sides. LHU reported strategic plans for quality assurance and university autonomy activities. LHU reported progress of SAR writing of two AUN-QA training programs, building enterprise-based learning programs, project-based learning programs and future development plans, updating the KPIs, expected training sessions and activities to be supported by BUILD - IT in the coming time. The second part was interviewing University leaders, leaders of related units, students participating in EPICS, Quality Assurance Division and two groups joining in SAR, lecturers attending CFT and MTT training courses.

Established in 2010, BUILD – IT is a project of US Government in cooperation with Intel and ASU, aiming at changing policies of universities from management to others. Presently, the project has gone through two stages and it is now in the third one (2015 - 2020).

By the end of 2015, LHU officially joined in this project. After more than half a year of learning, in September 2016, LHU officially launched the project. Over the past two years, receiving active support from the Project Board, LHU has been gradually improving the training programs to meet the education accreditation standard according to ABET Accreditation.
